OK, I had to dig a little deeper in the the vault to make this work.
Same concept as the album duos series that has been going around only this time three albums from each band from three different decades. Go!

Hemispheres just edges out The Yes Album
Signals waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy over 90125 But in a twist, you managed to find the one Rush album I don't care for, so I go with Ladders in the third round. But that's like scoring a field goal as time runs out when you're behind by 20..... this is still a very solid Rush victory.

Everyone under 55 will vote for Rush while everyone over 55 will vote for Yes.
Just kidding of course although sometimes it does seem that way. ;)

Which Yes do you like? Or to ask another way what Yes albums would have to be there for you to vote for them and it could you still stick to the one per decade for three decades rule?

There are certain combinations of Yes that could beat certain combinations of Rush... but... For me, there's no way Yes can win this format. Yes just doesn't have any great albums in the other decades... while Rush has great albums from every period.

Drama, 90125 and Talk aren't great? I'd be curious to know what Rush albums from the 90's you think are great.

Drama's very good. I don't think much of 90125. The only later Yes album I like, surprisingly, is the more recent Fly Fro Here.
I think Roll the Bones, is a fantastic, horribly underrated album. Outside a couple songs, I think Counterparts is a big dip in the Rush discography. But they came back strong with an excellent Test for Echo. Edited by Fischman - December 11 2019 at 18:59 |

Wow, it's funny how opinions can be so different sometimes. I think TFE is one of their worst albums. To be fair I haven't heard it in a while but it seems most Rush fans don't think too highly of it. I agree with RTB. I'm not sure what it is but I like it(sure some songs leave a little bit to be desired like face up or neurotica but I still prefer it over presto). It's not one of their best but I find it interesting. Counterparts is actually pretty strong but it's sort of a return to their earlier hard rock roots and not really very prog sounding. As for Yes you didn't mention Talk so if you don't know it definitely check it out. I think Endless Dream is one of Yes's best epics ever. FFH is very good but I prefer the albums with JA on vocals. That said Drama is probably one of their strongest musically. I like the ladder because in part because they never really did anything else remotely like it imo. The same could be said about relayer though.

Yes vs Rush could be very tough choice, but based on the albums listed, it becomes an easy one. Rush !
