The Old Grey Whistle Test was a British music show that aired on the BBC from 1971 to 1988, hosted most famously by "Whispering" Bob Harris from 1972 to 1979. This blog is a showcase for featuring your favourite clips from The Old Grey Whistle Test, whether it's songs, albums, concerts, interviews or documentaries and regardless of whether the music is Prog-Related or otherwise. Smile

By the way, The Old Grey Whistle Test refers to men in old grey suits who are able to whistle a tune after hearing it played a couple of times, in which case the song is deemed to have passed The Old Grey Whistle Test. Smile

I've always liked early Judas Priest up to Killing Machine. Here's an example on the OGWT. Proggy? Nah.

Rob Halfords hair is, erm, different and check out that clobber, no leather or chains in those days.

Pretty sure Squire and Howe were on OGWT back in the day too!

He has made some proggy albums, and considering he was born in 1974 he did well to appear on OGWT that year.

I was watching a "guitar heroes at the BBC" programme the other day and they showed a clip of Lynyrd Skynyrd doing "Sweet Home Alabama" (with only 2 guitarists) but I'm sure they did Freebird on OGWT.

and your next mission should you accept it is to is to find a clip of Alan White and Chris Squire doing 'Run With The Fox' Actually it may have been too late for the Old Grey Whistle Test . I think that one came out late seventies.

I'm planning to trawl through the YouTube archives later today looking for more classic OGWT clips. This reply will self-destruct in five seconds. Smile
