Paint Box: the bass line is pure bliss (not to mention vocals & everything else).

It has to be between Arnold Layne and See Emily Play. The latter has the better B-side, but on the other hand Arnold Layne is a little more edgy than Emily. Both are great songs.

I don't have many nice things to say about It Would Be So Nice and Point Me At the Sky (the B-sides are better than the A-sides in this case, though I prefer the Ummagumma version of Axe). It is remarkable that they made some really good album cuts in that period while the single material is so inferior. Post-Syd Floyd really wasn't a singles band.

Apples And Oranges is better than it sounds...

It Would Be So Nice to vote in this poll, but I only know Julia Dream from Mostly Autumn's much later cover version. I haven't heard the original version. Embarrassed

Arnold/Candy just above Emily/Scarecrow.

Emily is my fave, but in some respects I can see how Arnold is the better song.

I just wanted into this poll those non-album -singles (yes, The Scarecrow was from the Piper, but reasons you may understand I couldn´t let that single away). Also, Let there be more light / Remember a Day was released only outside UK, those five singles were the only Floyd singles in the UK at sixties. And if I remember right, next Floyd single after Point Me at the sky was Another Brick In the Wall part 2 / One Of My Turns in the UK.

But anyway nobody had to vote, if not want to.

from the early Floyd singles, I only like the songs of Arnold Layne and Careful With That Axe.

not sure why it wasn't included as a choice, as it would've maybe gotten my vote

And it fits really well Apples & Oranges! Seems to be no-ones favorite, but I love it also, I think it´s really great when knowing how Syd´s situation was when it was recorded. I took the vid from American Bandstand where Syd managed to "sing" the song whole through, next Pat Boone show Roger had to do it. There seem to be also "official" vid where they "played" it with David.

Hi,

..... the plane that landed ... upside down ....

is the one I always come back to ... it's just a crazy song and that image from Hipgnosis of a plane approaching a window was just too much ... I loved it ... a veritable Goons story .... just like the one about the trains and the doors and windows ... the visualization of it was just massive and exciting and fun to  hear!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
