Not my favorite. Peaches and Little Umbrellas are great, the rest is meh. Would rather hear The Grand Wazoo.

Definitely my favorite Zappa lp......because of the great music and sentimental reasons.
Hard to pick a favorite track,,they are all excellent....but I'll say Willie The Pimp today.

It's not often one can describe a violin as sounding sleazy. It is definitely sleazy on Willie the Pimp.

Very even record, easy to get into. First time I heard, I was totally in love with Son of Mr. Green Genes.

Not my fav Zappa, but absolutely greater than anything he made after sixties. Peaches En Regalia is greatest Zappa piece, love really much Son Of Mr. Green Genes, although Uncle Meatīs Green Genes is better.

Frank Zappa: Hot Rats! A definite contender for his best studio guitar solo, "Willie the Pimp".

It's about fifty percent prog/early fusion and fifty percent jazz. I like it. Peaches en regalia and the son of mr. green genes in particular are favorites.

Hot Rats is my favourite Zappa album. Someone mentioned the Grand Wazoo, which is also really good. I find Zappa to be hit and miss, swerving between being very entertaining to being simply annoying. There are episodes of musicial genius and excellence peppered across his whole catalogue, but I like HR the best due to it being (mostly) instrumental, and lacking 'wacky' comedy vocal contributions.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Fantastic album, and even the Captain makes a vocal appearance (those floozies in the lobby love the way he sells).

Agree on the highlights..  Clap

Highly over-valued in my view (candidate for me for the 'Biggest gripe with the top 100' thread).

Grand Wazoo is one that certainly always sparks my interest. But Waka / Jawaka gets it for me!

Remove the idiot Captain and his vocal cameo and it would be the perfect Zappa album.
As it is, due to that vocal, it takes second place in my list to Burnt Weeny Sandwich.
