Streaming isn't too bad... If you like it, buy it. If you don't then you don't want it anyway.

I am so glad I took the appropriate time here at work to download as many as I could. It did seem too good to be true. The question is...how much will loyalty to this site denegrate because if it?

The thing is you can stream from Amazon, Tower or HMv...
It's a shame the MP3's have gone I have discovered a few bands via the mp3 download option playing them whilst traveling to work on my mp3 player. Oh well.. |

Streaming is, de facto, "too" bad. There iis no way for anyone to skip to a certain point (time) in any given song. I cannot critically analyze something over progarchives.com before I buy it now. Also many people desire to save an mp3 or two onto their computer for whatever reason... can't anymore though. Thanks streamers. Edited by The Ryan |

Well, I for one am a musician and I have MP3s posted on the site, I am a little disappointed that they are down, because I feel that in this type of music many of the songs require repeated listenings to fully take effect. I certainly have downloaded MANY songs from here and put them on CDs to listen to and ended up buying many CDs by artists I did not know after hearing the songs and getting to like the music. I would hope that could happen again, in our tight knit community it is important to protect our musicians rights, I agree, but I, for one, am very happy to allow our music to be downloaded, if it helps people to get to know us and like our music. We are all here to discuss our favorites and dislikes and DISCOVER our next favorites, I would love to see that continue. |

I just made a poll up on that very issue here: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12566& amp;PN=1
I think the record companies need to know this especially the second level ones that cater to prog music. This site is their friend not their enemy.

Yes, we the ones who have internet dialup are going listen to the progarchives songs by part. A 7 minute song would last 20 minutes or more....... Edited by Shaman |

Well technically you still are downloading the those tracks... you just no longer have the option of listening to them anywhere else. BTW, I noticed in your sig you were playing Courtney Pine so your not all bad... |
