I'll go with the top majority vote as I've never been a fan of their later albums. Who Am the Only One who doesn't like the Pawn Hearts album? That would be me.

Have not spun the album in decades. From what I recall, 4 stars for me.

First album of theirs I listened to. I think it's their most accessable album.

Option #2. Still Life comes first, then Godbluff. Hereafter H to He and The Least We Can Do...

far and away their best album..an album even 'haters' (ie non living in momma's basement types) can love..
as John once wisely said.. their highpoint.. they went for the jugular on their next album.. and failed horribly but did create the endearing example of why prog has such a bad name to so many.. mediocre prog.. prog for prog's sake..

"Killer" is killer, but I still prefer Pawn Hearts.

Wouldn't that be the same as "weak album?"

Not at all. There are albums I can acknowledge are weak that I like, and albums I don’t like that I know are strong. I hadn’t noticed there was no “I don’t like it” option, because I do like it. But the options are all a bit odd, and not at mutually exclusive. If multiple votes were allowed, I could definitely vote for more than one option, and would have preferred to do so. |

Voted it's good....and it is accessible as is 'Godbluff' I think......'Pawn Hearts' not as much...at least for me.
No idea which is the best lp around that time since I have never become a big fan like many here. I was lucky in that around 25 years ago someone dumped a whole mess of prog cd's at a used record store and I bought them all and there were 4 or 5 VDGG in there so I had an instant collection of their best ones. Found a vinyl copy of H to He a few years back at Reckless Records in Chicago, IL. I do like the cover.

You can be both! Option one and two is what I am. Both options are equally valid for me. It just means you have to choose which of the two you’re going to go for. 🤷🏻♂️ |

I'm somewhat surprised by the result of this poll so far. I didn't think there were that many VdGG fans on this forum.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

They're probably a lot bigger than you think they are. They never had much mainstream success but I think next to Gentle Giant they are probably the biggest prog cult band.
