One plainly weird album on this latest musical Journey and one legendary album immortalised In Rock, but my vote comes down to a choice between S.F. Sorrow and The Last Puff.

Back in the protolith days when I was deep in a location only the neutrinos could get to, many megapascals of pressure transformed me into a giant, oblong gneiss lacking a beard. Many eons of plate tectonics have brought me to the surface where many photons and spilt grape soda have turned me purple. I am a rock! Watch me sit!

How come Deep Purple's Concerto for Group and Orchestra not count?

I understood enough of your message to realise you're voting for Deep Purple.

I sometimes get criticised (not unfairly) for adding live albums to the poll, so I was trying to stick to studio albums, just for a change.

Deep Purple is too obvious, so I'll go with the Yardbirds this time. I could easily voted for at least half of these.

S.F.Sorrow > Journey > In Rock
I don't think Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come is proto-prog, indeed. It's prog (maybe symphonic or psychedelic/space rock).

In Rock is the defining moment for Deep Purple and got my vote. Second place goes to Tommy, which elevated the Who into a whole new category.

'Tommy'...an iconic lp .......
but all good albums on that list. Just found an original vinyl copy of Journey by Kingdom Come at a local shop. Have all the others also on old vinyl except for Kaleidoscope (was recorded in 1970 btw) and Nirvana...difficult to find those in the US.

Kaleidoscope are a band of many facets - including Fairfield Parlour - but I didn't know about White Faced Lady being recorded in 1970, which makes it a real collectors item. It's unlikely I'll be able to buy it but at least I can search for the album through the viewfinder of YouTube.
