   The Water Witch are a British progressive black metal quartet, formed in Yorkshire in 2010. The band consists of members of A Forest of Stars, namely the lineup featured on their debut album The Corpse of Rebirth - Dan Eyre, aka Mister Curse (vocals), Jon Cumiskey (vocals/guitars/bass), Richard Blakelock (keyboards/percussion) and Katie Stone (vocals/violin/flute). The band describes their work as "[m]usic inspired by the power of the land and the sun." Their sole album, The Heavens in Traction, was independently released digitally in 2012, with a proper CD release via Akashic Records following the year after. The revised version featured a different tracklist, with a reworked version of their song "Illuminance," now titled "The Soul of the World." A follow-up LP is in the works as of December 2020. The Water Witch are easily recommended to fans of early A Forest of Stars, as well as Ashenspire, Code, Blut aus Nord, Spectral Lore and Lice.
