These are all artists in my CD collection, apart from Alice Cooper, who I added for a friend.

Of these, I guess I'll go with Kansas's debut. Chicago probably my second choice. Maybe Steve Miller Band for third.

A lot of brilliant debuts here but I gave it to Steve Miller Band. It’s a little sad to see just how many peeps equate the man with The Joker...and that’s about it.
Very few know about him and his band effectively acting as Chuck Berry’s backing band in the mid 60s...and well that beautifully raw blues rock sound suddenly memted together with the prevailing psychedelic winds. I am such a sucker for those first 3-4 albums of the band. I almost voted for Santana btw...but I figure he’ll do just fine without my help. |

but it still has 0 votes. I must admit I do like that album as well, there are some strange songs on it but some good ones as well.

As it happens, the Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits was the last album I listened to on CD, just this morning, although I can still only recall two of their songs: Fly Like an Eagle, and inevitably, The Joker.

Thanks. I'll double down on your CSN vote, with Santana's debut running a very close second.

The Allmans, on the strength of Dreams. Gregg's Hammond in that one worth the album by itself.

It's a good thing I remembered to include Steely Dan, seeing as they're currently leading the poll.

Mountain - "Climbing!" or Chicago - "Chicago Transit Authority". I can't choose.

I think my taste goes in a slightly different direction. Favourite debut albums from American rock musicians include: The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out! Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk The Doors - The Doors The Velvet Underground and Nico Paul Simon - Paul Simon Iggy Pop - The Idiot Television - Marquee Moon Talking Heads - 77 R.E.M. - Murmur

^ I would've included The Doors too, if I hadn't just featured them in the 8-album series of Psychedelic Rock polls.

The only one of these albums that is in my collection is the first Tom Petty album, so that's where my vote goes.
