Barre, Fripp, and Gilmour; as great Martin doesn't have any votes yet, he gets mine.

Immediately thought Mr. Hackett, followed by Howe, Barre and Gilmour.

agree --many young players were influenced by Howe---such an original player no typical Van Halen type playing. But I voted for Hackett because he is sublime.

Hard to choose between Fripp and Hackett. Both were innovative but I'll give it Fripp for the heavier sound on Red.

Gilmore is great but think you have to love the blues to vote for him---I'm just ok with blues inspired guitar.

This one is hard. I went with Howe but I could have easily gone with Gilmour, Fripp , Hackett..
All very different styles

Same. Tull simply would not have been the same without him. Also weird that Howe has so few. Sure, Hackett and Gilmour are perennial favorites, but geez.

Which one of the Big Six British bands was Hendrix in? I must have missed him in the purple haze.

Hackett for me. I like Gilmour a lot; he's not a great technician but he plays with great feel.
Howe is a great player but his style isn't to my taste. But they are all pipped (just) by a certain Mr A Latimer.

My three favorite guitarists are on this list. Martin Barre, Steve Hackett and Robert Fripp, so it’s a hard choice. I gave my vote to Martin, but is hard to choose between them.

Really? Howe among the lowest rated? He's doing even worse than Wakeman. For me, it's between himself and Gilmour, my 2 favourites overall, and I'm going with Howe just because of how bad he's doing. By the way, in another poll it was mentioned how they thought Gilmour was more apreciated on the classic rock world than on the prog world, and here is the proof that is not quiet right. As of this moment he is tied in second place with Fripp himself, not bad at all (I don't usually see him getting so much apreciation on classic rock threads).
