Every word you say. I'd vote Camel as a band over Gentle Giant, but I'd still vote the Gentle Giant debut over the Camel debut.

Wow, for once, I can't vote. I go back much further with the Giant, and like the variety on it. But I also like the first Camel album. If I had to choose which was more representative of each band's overall sound, I'd choose Camel.
But still, no way to choose one over the other this time.

Not overly enamored with 'Giant's Funny Ways, Isn't It Quiet and Cold, Why Not, and The Queen. The whole of Camel's debut cries out for repeated listenings.

I don’t think you can really beat Gentle Giant. Truly masterful album.

I really like Civilian, but i think The Missing Piece is not that good. And then of course there's Giant for a Day. I'm also not that fond of Interview. So even if the bands were up against each other, I'd still vote for Camel. For me, Camel has two weak albums - the poppy The Single Factor and Dust & Dreams which I for one found really dull.

^ I know what you mean, but i'm not sure i would go quite that far. There is Civilian and Giant For a Day. I think The Missing Piece was their last exceptional album.

I'll go Gentle Giant's debut over just about anybody else's debut although I like the Camel very much.

I haven't heard the whole Camel's debut as such, but for the several songs I have heard I think it's very good. As well as Gente Giant's... my favourite albums from them are the first two, before they sarted loosing their melody touch. I guess I might go for Gentle Giant by a hair.

I am not into Gentle Giant at the moment only hearing the Octopus album, but someday I might be a Giant For A Day. I was watching the giants live on tv, and then called my football loving friend if he would like to watch the Giants with me. He came over to see the "football game", but realized that I was not watching the Giants play football, but rather watch Gentle Giant live with him. He though the music was too stupid and pretentious, so he went home to probably listen to something heard 1000x like Journey or Queen's hits.

As much as I love Gentle giant, I have to give it to Camel on this one. GG 1st has Funny Ways and some stormin' organ, but Camel's 1st is IMHO a little more interesting overall and certainly more consistent across the album. Camel

For me it's a really hard choice, sine I like both bands/albums very, very much. I'm voting for Camel today, only by a hair, but I coud have gone for Gentle Giant yesterday or tomorrow.

Both albums are equally great, difficult choice. Maybe Camel debut because I think is a little more consistent

I find this one quite difficult as I really love both albums. But by a smidge Gentle Giant gets my vote.

I very much prefer Gentle Giant as a band in general, but I think their debut album is less accomplished than Camel's
