Magnification is great, but I just love Symphonic Live. Along with the live Keys to Ascension (live and studio should have been released separately) I think they would make the perfect introduction for someone who dosn't know the band.

The first three are brilliant. The last two are pedestrian at best. Magnification is magnificent thanks largely to the contributions of the film composer who scored the orchestral pieces.

Magnification. Not really a great effort, but it did have some cute songs.

^ Yes, thanks for mentioning it, otherwise I would've forgot to include Fly from Here - Return Trip in tomorrow's poll, seeing as I already forgot to include the album on my prog channel.

you misunderstood I only mentioned it because you forgot about it or don't know about it. I've already said it a few times, nothing much for me after Magnification.

In that case, I'd better make sure I include Fly from Here - Return Trip in the poll, then at least you'll have something to vote for.

I'd vote for a "none of the above option" if you make one.

One thing's for sure, you won't be voting for The Quest, and probably no one else will either, which just leaves me to vote for it on my ownsome.

There's plenty to choose from here, especially compared to an "apples or oranges" poll of just two albums and there'll be seven albums to choose from in the fifth and final poll, although it doesn't include the re-doing of Fly from Here. 2011: Yes - Fly from Here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzCIeG4w8NTFMBGBDxSAeRCU 2014: Yes - Heaven & Earth - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzAP7E-W-r_KZXpJdqs9hn_k 2014: Yes - Like It Is - Yes at the Bristol Hippodrome - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzBy9uyRERs-I1GDFW4lDa2z 2015: Yes - Like It Is - Yes at the Mesa Art Centre - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzCKc4OxC4JZC4-Gq1UEAq93 2018: Yes - Yes 50 - Live at the Apollo - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzBYSUsok346p8fvJgYrp8_4 2019: Yes - The Royal Affair Tour (Live from Las Vegas) - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzA0X6_bGXxYY8zUsdFRDSXU 2021: Yes - The Quest - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLikNHjJ_cxzBziXzlBaV3__WZmK-QywWG Edited by Psychedelic Paul - November 05 2021 at 12:52 |

may I ask why didn't you make a 2001-2021 poll? There are 5 studio albums (including the re-doing FFH).

This one is slightly difficult. I will plump for the Symphonic Live opus. I took the wife to see the Cardiff gig, and it was marvellous.
Special mention, though, for Magnification, the last Yes album I got really excited about, and Songs From Tsongas is a fine DVD, especially the acoustic bit.

Don't listen to Paul, Manuel. Magnification is a good album and I find it odd to make it compete against live albums that are generally a kind of "best of"... But the Symphonic Live delivers some of the best renditions of Ritual, The Gates of Delirium and some other classics. I took my parents to that concert in Amsterdam where Symphonic Live was recorded and filmed. It was a surprise to them: they only discovered what they were going to attend to once we arrived in front of the concert hall! It was their first rock concert ever and they enjoyed every moment of it (they're still talking about it!). And for me it was one of the best Yes concerts I've attended to!

Maybe you'd prefer to hear Roundabout, Starship Trooper & Close to the Edge sung by Jon Davison instead for a change, on the latest YES live album. Then again, maybe you wouldn't.

Magnification. All the live albums are nice to hear or watch, but how many times do I need to hear Roundabout, Starship Trooper, Close to the Edge, etc? Even though they are different versions, at the end, they all sound pretty much the same, and I don’t need all those songs repeated over and over again in my collection.
