Formed in 2009, Infera Bruo are an American black metal quartet from Boston, Massachusetts. The lineup features guitarist/vocalist Galen Baudhuin (aka Galen; formerly of Trap Them and the current live bassist for Wolves in the Throne Room), bassist/vocalist Chris Danecek (aka Neutrino; formerly of Pillory and Virulence), keyboardist Robin Amos (aka Germanicus; founding member of early post-rock group Cul de Sac) and drummer/vocalist Philip Trembley (aka Ardroth; of Shadar Logoth and Bothildir). With influences such as Emperor, Thorns, King Crimson, Immortal and Keep of Kalessin, Infera Bruo live up to their name ("hellish noise" in Esperanto), crafting an atmospheric and technical brand of progressive black metal while balancing melody and dissonance.

Infera Bruo began as a trio consisting of Baudhuin, Trembley and Amos, recording their well-received self-titled demo in 2011, and subsequently recruited Danecek the same year. The four released their debut album, Desolate Unknown, independently and through Acephale Winter Productions in 2013. 2015 saw Infera Bruo's profile rise as they released their sophomore LP, In Conjuration, through Bindrune Recordings, while also participating in a four-way split with fellow Massachusetts groups In Human Form, Autolatry and Obsidian Tongue, and forging a one-on-one split with the latter band later in the year. Stone Healer guitarist Dave Kaminsky (formerly of Autolatry) joined the quartet as an auxiliary live member in 2017. Infera Bruo signed to Prosthetic Records in 2018, which released their third full-length Cerement later that year and the Rites of the Nameless LP in 2020.

Similar groups in the archives include Enslaved, Borknagar, Agalloch, Castevet, Cormorant and Autolatry.

Thank you, noted Smile
Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life
