Don't laugh: some of these albums are VERY good. All have their supporters and detractors, and all give an album-length opportunity for some of our favorite performers to be lead vocalists. Unless I'm mistaken, only Steve Howe would continue to regularly sing lead on his future solo albums, and none of the above featured a supporting tour.

I'm sure I'm missing some other good examples, so I've included an "Other" option. Please limit these to full-length albums (not just a "one-off" song) by those who did not regularly sing lead.

As for my choice, three of the above are among my all-time favorites, and I can't quite decide...

From the list, Chris.

Walter Becker and Richard Henshall my other choices. Their voice fits the music perfectly.

Squire will take it, but let me say that Jobson did very well on his The Green Album.

Fully agree: for all the UK fans on this site, I'm surprised I see so little mention (positive or negative) of The Green Album. I was floored when I first heard this album!

Same here. I've loved it ever since I first heard it on the 1992 One Way reissue.

I'm not familiar with all so I won't vote. Out of the ones I've heard it's definitely Chris Squire by a mile.

I think George was pretty well established as a singer with the Beatles though. He sang way more than Ringo and he even sang on songs he didn't write.

I find Howe's vocals on Beginnings full of great melodies and inflections. He put a lot into it.

Mr. Squire.
The others aren't bad, with the exception of Mr. Howe.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

I know Squire will take this, but I too thought Jobson did well on the Green Album.
I also think that Rutherford was pretty decent on Acting Very Strange.  Much better than his bandmate, Banks.

Hackett is a key omission from this group. His singing is rather pleasing in the lower ranges, but on albums like Cured, Highly Strung, and Till We Have Faces, it sounds like two cats fighting in the alley at midnight.

I intentionally left Steve Hackett out of this poll because his vocals were not a "one time only" album (like most of the albums I included) or the occasional song here and there (like Steve Howe). Beginning with Cured, he has been his own lead vocalist for almost everything he's released since. While far from being a great singer, I don't have a major issue with his voice. He has greatly improved since those first albums he sang on.
