On a 90s review kick.
After noticing that PA's top 25 from the 1990s doesn't come close to matching my own list of favorite prog albums from the decade I was wondering if these 25 albums are really everybody else's favorites. Would any of these albums be on your own personal Top 25 for the 1990s? Edited by BrufordFreak - June 28 2022 at 11:23 |

Here we have a great list. Of all these I easily can choose several. But I can primarily highlight: Änglagård - Hybris, Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory, Opeth - Still Life, Discipline - Unfolded Like Staircase, Dream Theater - Awake, Ayreon - Into The Electric Castle and Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade Of Gray. So, these are my votes.

Very tough decision between Death Human, Symphony X Divine Wings of Tragedy, and Opeth Still Life, and to a lesser degree Ayreon Into the Electric Castle. I went went with DWoT... it's hard to beat the SX But my absolute favorite prog album of the 90s would be Neurosis Through Silver in Blood.

I love Art Zoyd's Häxan (and Art Zoyd's Faust not in the list is another fave). Cardiacs' Sing to God has been a favourite, but is now not one I often wish to return -- "Dirty Boy" in particular will ever have a special place in my heart. I do love the 180 G's cover album of it called Singin' to God. I also like Höyry-Kone's Huono Parturi very much, and I love the earlier HC album maybe even more, I also like that Present album. All of those might well make my top 50 albums in PA. Will vote for the Art Zoyd and Cardiacs as my two as thgose have both been so very important to me (I do tend to prefer certain earlier Cardiacs releases, however, like On Land and In the Sea).

Hybris and Slow Dance would be in my top 10, but none of the others. The other 8 would be:
Rajaz - Camel
Spirit of Autumn Past - Mostly Autumn Ever and Subterranea - IQ The Visitor and Songs From the Lion's Cage - Arena The Masquerade Overture - Pendragon The Book of Kells - Iona |

Anthony Phillips. Slow Dance is a true master piece, often overlooked.

All 3 Death albums are killer from here, essential and legendary albums followed by Symphony X, Dream Theater - Images and the excellent Edge of Sanity Crimson
