Which of these two Soundgarden albums do you prefer? Often contested which is their best.

I'm voting for Superunknown. While Badmotorfinger is much more consistent, the high points of Superunknown are just that much better than anything in Badmotorfinger, despite the large amount of filler on this album. Badmotorfinger is also plagued with very bad production, even by 1991 standards, and is probably the reason why it didn't win my vote. I also think the songs on Badmotorfinger are just simply too long and they meander to much; while it is a solid release, with less filler than Superunknown, it displays a band that still needs to refine their sound, which was done on the latter.

Badmotorfinger by a very long margin, for me.

Superunknown is a good album, but it’s never been a favourite of mine. It’s possibly even my least favourite Soundgarden album. It has some superb songs, but it is simply too polished and perfect sounding. I far prefer the rawer sound of Badmotorfinger.

My personal SG ranking of their albums would probably be:

1. Down on the Upside
2. Badmotorfinger
3. Ultramega OK
4= Louder Than Love
4= King Animal
6. Superunknown

Easily Badmotorfinger for me. I love this album.

I've only ever heard those two in the poll, and out of those Badmotorfinger - which I consider to be high up among the best rock-albums of the 1990's.

No contest for me. It's Badmotorfinger all the way

With Superunknown, Soundgarden started their decent into commercialism. Yes, it's more polished and better produced than Badmotofinger but it also lacks the raw energy that Badmotorfinger has. I prefer their earlier, more raw sound.

Badmotorfinger melts my face. Superunknown, with the exception of Spoonman, doesn't come close to that.
