Specifically the 1970s.
And if not, why? There are a few women present in the 21st Century Italian prog scene, but not many. Is there a particular reason (or reasons) for this?

I know of a handful of female "RPI-singers" from the 1970's, but can only think of Fiamma Dallo Spirito (Vittoria Lo Turco) who played violin and flute in Jacula. She was also the lead vocalist.

Only a few from the 70s that i know of. Most of these aren't under the RPI category here on PA but were Italian prog of some sort. Possibly due to the macho virtuosic performances of the symphonic Italian prog scene back then. It's also traditionally been a male dominated culture so there's that. APOTEOSI - Marcello Surace / drums - Federico Idà / bass, flute - Franco Vinci / guitar, vocals - Silvana Idà / vocals - Massimo Idà / keyboards, synthesizer SAINT JUST - Jane Sorrenti / vocals, 12-string guitar, percussion - Tony Verde / bass - Tito Rinesi / vocals, guitars, percussion, harmonica, autoharp - Andrea Faccenda / guitars, piano, organ, harmonica - Fulvio Maras / drums, percussion P.s.: Prog Folk OPUS AVANTRA - Donella Del Monaco / voice - Paolo troncon / keyboards - Mauro Marcello / flutes - Andrea Martin / celtic arp - Danilo Visentin / accordion - Antonio Galligioni / cello - Gabriele Bruzzolo / percussions - Michele Mestriner / keyboards P.s.: This is the line up of "Venetia Et Anima" their last LP that is a extreme recommended ISP/ RPI album. CIRCUS 2000 - Silvana Aliotta / vocals - Marcello "Spooky" Quartarone / vocals, guitars - Gianni Bianco / guitar, bass - Johnny Betti / drums - Franco "Dede" Lo Previte / drum CANZONIERE DEL LAZIO
