Hey folks,
Just put the finishing touches on a 7-minute piece called Unstill, which is retro-inspired symphonic prog. Looking to share and hear feedback if folks have any: https://soundcloud.com/david-ross-146/unstill-9123-demo Thanks for listening! Cheers, David

I'm a huge fan of retro symphonic prog. Your song sounds great. I hear some King Crimson Mk I (pre Larks...) influences. There are also some parts that remind me of All Traps on Earth.

Thank you! But I personally don't have any issues with unclickable links on PA forum. All I gotta do is select the link, right click it and click "open link in a new tab" :P

I've listened to it while watching a youtube video about weird things like ghosts, Ufos and their likes. I think it's perfect as a soundtrack. Apart of that, it's very good as well as the production. Are you a signed artist? It sounds professional.

Hi,
I like it, although I think that some parts of it are simply added for effect rather than continuity ... I would rather (that's me!!!!) see it be more continuous and maybe go from one way to the next, in stages that do not necessarily repeat, but "increase" until it reaches a highly involved ending ... but that's me ... please don't take to this ... because I said it. I tend to believe that "progressive", retro or fake, is not a format, or something that you must do and add to your piece ... and you develop it in your own style, though my preference is a continuity that does not necessarily repeat itself, or adds something new in order to make it seem more "progressive" or in tune with some progressive ideas of an invisible formatted music! It's nice ... though as an arranger I would probably concentrate less on the individual pieces that break it up, and concentrate more on the continuity of the piece. But then my idea of progressive is to never bother with ideas and just do something else! Ideas, are what stops the "progress" and "development" of the piece. You have to let it flow to its logical point, and it should not just be what I would consider a show of your talents musically,

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Thanks! Was definitely listening to All Traps on Earth a lot while writing this.
That sounds like a great thing to do while listening to any prog...thanks for the kind words.
Thanks for your feedback! I had my own logic (mostly motivic) in the sectional progression, and, listening to a lot of Anglagard, influenced by their "linear" style.
