For me it was to the contrary, I think the cover looks good (though I havn't seen it close up). Compared to the cover picture that was shown when the set was first announced, this final one looks amazing. And Camel never managed to have nice covers for their albums, I think Moonmadness is the only one that looks decent (despite appearing unfinished).

That's honestly a good price for what you get and better than I expected. Bearing in mind there is a Keith Emerson box set just released and similarly priced of his solo music then I know which one I would go for (and I'm a massive ELP fan!)

It is a good price, I have all the Camel studio albums and the official live albums so I don't need this.

I love ELP as well and would like the Keith Emerson box set but its outside of my budget. Smile

I don't need anything like this either but 'want' is a whole different thing! The family will club together for a decent Xmas present so this might be it!

Clever move !

Who is going to shell out for this in a cost of living crisis?!

About the same number of CD/DVD as the King Crimson,, Steve Hillage and Tangerine dream boxes and therefore comparable prices (200/250 euros)

I still have Camel boxset ordered at JPC Musik since April 2023. They emailed me back saying the boxset will come out sometime in 2024. They told me my order stands and no change in price to me.

Regarding the price of the box, I wrote this somewhere else but it bears repeating here too:

I would love it if the box only had the unreleased and rare stuff, or that every major unreleased element was released on its own as a separate release, but let's take a look at what it would probably cost. Keeping in mind that the price for this box is most likely about 120-140 euros and nowadays CD releases are often in let's say 18-23 euros range and if there's a Blu-ray disc too it might be as high as 30.

Camel remixed (cd+bd)
Mirage remixed (cd+bd)
The Snow Goose remixed (cd+bd)
Moonmadness remixed (cd+bd)
Nude remixed (cd+bd)
Marquee 1974 (2cd)
Hammersmith 1977 (2cd)
Unreleased songs and demos compilation (1 or 2 cd)

If each of these cost only 18 euros which is the least it could probably be, it would add up as 144 euros which is already more expensive than the box. Probably it would cost a lot more with the Blu-rays and double albums. So if you're a hard core fan that wants everything, the box is actually a cheap solution even if it has way too much stuff in it.

One thing I'm hoping for is that Universal will finally put all of this stuff on streaming platforms. There's only a couple of albums on them nowadays and the rest I carry around as mp3's.

Yes, I think so. It might never see the light of day.

It was, the original release date was in May and most of the shops that listed it just quietly pulled it from their selection. No record company has ever said anything about this release in public, it was all just listings from different webshops.

As for the price, it was listed around 165 dollars / 140 euros which is not a lot per disc.

And about what's new or rare, I did my best to figure it out in this post: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=130802&PID=6075038#6075038

Yeah, it's going to be pricy (if it ever gets released at all), and most fans already have most of this stuff anyway.

I don't find it when I search the JPC website. Can you post a link?
