Pretty straightforward poll, and I'm including Level V, since that's basically LTIA Part 5
Discuss please.

I think I only know the first two. However, they sound nothing like each other imo.

Part II.
I had to listen to parts IV and V, so I should have my prog credentials revoked. ![]() |

^ I'm willing to vote for Level Five. I like all parts though (although IV a bit less). Level Five shows they can still sound/be modern despite older inspirations...

I have to vote in favor of Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part I; its songwriting and musicianship are truly exceptional however every part exhibits a high level of both.

Your right, there so much noodling on "I" while "II" is a tour de force. I prefer the live version of "II" at Asbury Park 1974. Wetton and Bruford are something else reminding me of what Fripp once said about how hard it was to play over top of those two. Still "Level Five" is even more intense and my pick because it had the biggest impact on me when I first heard it. I really like "III" from "Absent Lovers" an incredible live recording. Part I. Take into context first hearing this in 1973. The first couple minutes are reflective and Oriental interplay between percussion and violin, the violin becomes more staccato with the introduction of an overdriven guitar, and then at about 3:44 comes the most metallic explosion this side of Sabbath.
I still recall hearing that for the first time. A heavy moment.

I only know parts I and II, of which I like part II the most. I found part I rather tedious at first listen, but I admit it has a growing potential. No vote.

Part 2, original version, I love the interplay between Bruford and Muir. Level 5 is great just as well, and I do enjoy part 4. Part 1 I didn't appreciate until I heard the live version with the last line-up(s). 3 is the one that seems most underwhelming.
