Hot take: 1977 is for me the best year of the "classic era" in terms of advancement in production/recording technology! The early to mid 70's sound I find a bit too primitive and raw in general, while on the other hand, the sound of the late 70's to early 80's - too sterile and synth driven. 1977 IMHO is the golden blend of both!

Interesting. TAAW and TYA were the first Yes albums I ever listened to, long ago, I will always love them.

Yes and Time and a Word are both better than The Yes Album in my book

I think Magnification is better than both Keystudio and The Ladder. I also love early Yes and I've never understood why so many dismiss those two albums.

They are very interesting albums, but IMHO, they are more uneven than TYA, especially Big Generator.
To me, TYA through GFTO constitutes Yes' great run, and I am hard pressed to choose a favorite among them. I love them all. Since GFTO, the Yes albums I think are best are KeyStudio and The Ladder, with Magnification running a distant third.

That's a hot take indeed. As much as I like these two albums, TYA reigns supreme for me as one of Yes's best works.

90125 and Big Generator are far more interesting than The Yes Album.

^I agree that it is not a hot take. However, I disagree with the notion.

Well, I don't think it should be. It is if you go by their ratings on RateYourMusic though. I definitely prefer the KC ratings here on PA.

Hot take: Threads about politics/democracy on Progarchives are mostly cringe.
