Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria, Germany

These six tracks, related to dreams, are by acts from six of the countries of Central Europe that are considered to be in the heart of the continent due to their geographical location and historical ties within the region, once also called Mitteleuropa. They are all embodied by dreamy landscapes and adorned with fairytale-like old architecture, but they also share similarities in culture and history while also being at the crossroads between Eastern and Western Europe. Its unusual beauty makes Mitteleuropa probably the most marvellous part of the continent.
All acts are in the archives. Of course, Eloy is the front-runner in this poll, but you should check out the others as well if you are not very familiar with them.

Eloy "Dreams"

The song "Dreams" is from Eloy's 1988 album "Ra." This is a grand, dramatic symphonic work with dreamy, ethereal, space-whispering female vocals. It's a really fantastic composition, approachable on the one hand yet varied enough to be intriguing; it features some floating synthesiser and fretless bass that creates a lush dreamscape.

Miha Kralj "Electric Dreams"

In Slovenia, Miha Kralj is considered the pioneer of electronic music. His 1985 progressive electronic album "Electric Dreams" features this instrumental as its title track. It is as sophisticated and melodic as his compositions from the 1970s, but it gives a stronger reference to a sound that was more in line with the then-modern style of the mid-1980s.

SBB "Follow My Dream"

This song is off the same-titled SBB album from 1978. The music on "Follow My Dream" is more jazzrock-influenced, and the MiniMoog work is superb. Additionally, there are some excellent guitar solos, a Fender Rhodes piano, and swinging sections with a thick bass tone. A very nice crescendo marks the conclusion.

Kormorán "Spanyol álom"

The Hungarian band Kormorán drew inspiration for this song from Spanish folklore. This instrumental prog-folk piece is superb. It has a catchy bass rhythm, a soaring electric guitar solo, a lovely flute and synthesiser interplay, and a Spanish guitar intro. You can listen to "Spanyol álom" (English: "The Spanish Dream") on their 1989 album "Hungarian Rhapsody."

Kyrie Eleison "Daydream"

Kyrie Eleison is one of the most well-known progressive bands in Austria. Their origin was Wien. The song "Daydream" is taken from the Kyrie Eleison 1994 album "The Blind Windows Suite." A very excellent mix of a furious voice and classically trained keyboardist Gerald Krampl accompanies the electric guitar bursts. A genre-defining progressive rock tune.

Drago Mlinarec "San"

A proggy standout from the 1979 album "Tako lako" (English: "So Easy") by the exceptionally gifted Croatian singer-songwriter Drago Mlinarec is "San" (English: "The Dream"). It is a ballad-like song with tempo changes, amazing electric guitar solos, and synths—all hallmarks of Mlinarec's progressive folk-rock sound. The chorus has some folksy, melodic solos that provide a sense of spaciousness and atmosphere.

SBB narrowly over Eloy. I have a bag of low fat aircraft carriers in the kitchen.
