Psychedelia, or early experimental rock which is somewhat more complex than Zappa's at the time????????????????? A whole chapter devoted to the album to get totally confused, in the following:

^ forget the "common" books advised about rock music and go on this one, in some aspects it is about psychedelic music, written by a great specialist and a musician

Anyone looking for an authentic 60's psychedelic album should definately listen to Easter Everywhere by the 13th Floor Elevators.

Are we still holding to the thread's originator's request:
Me and my mate were just wondering the other day that it would be great to hear the most psychedelic music ever.
We don't want your typical psych band, just something extremely senseless, absurd, mind-bending and shamelessly painful.
Does anyone know any suggestions?
Must not give him the wrong idea about good albums!

^ senseless and psychedelic, painful and absurd : try ANIMA "Sturmisher himmell"
70's obscure experimental German duo (man & woman) with self made instruments (percussions...), concrete noises, folk passages, a delirious "acid" atmosphere and crazy "insane" vocals. Unique and not krautrock at all!!!!

The Beatles - Revolution 9 is sooo weird and psychedelic. And some tracks from Pink Floyd`s Ummagumma. Well, Revolution 9 beats them all, the strangest psychedelic thing I`ve ever heard.

You want senseless, absurd mind-bending and painful, it has got to be the Fugs! Good luck finding some.

haha insane I was just gonna say Sturmischer Himmel!! I can't believe anyone else knows that! But I have to second that, it is utter nonsense from germany circa early 70s.

Some old psych was done by the Velvet Underground, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Bubble Puppy, Fugs. Fugs are painful, but catchy as well. If you can find the song 'Wide River' give it a listen. Some of Rundgren's stuff could be considered psych. |
Yeah I was thinking the same thing cept different song
