I know, I know-- "The Zombies? They're pop! They're just Beach Boys-influenced baroque pop that--" STOP. Baroque-pop, in this case, indicates a mixture of pop and classical, an ideal of progressive rock. Now, I'd like you to go listen to "Hung Up On A Dream" once or twice and tell me that's not one of the best syntheses of classical and rock you've heard--as well as an incredible showcase for the beloved Mellotron. Their follow-up band, Argent, is in the Prog Archives listings, and if such bands as Procol Harum, (a major influence) or ESPECIALLY The Moody Blues are here, perhaps so should the Zombies.

But they're no priority.

Life is like an avantgarde play because tuna.

Yeah I think The Zombies are a definite candidate for inclusion here- 'Oddesey and Oracle' is a genuine masterpiece; it's flooded with mellotron plus the songs are gorgeously crafted; far above most music in 1968 in terms of intricacy, and above much of it today.
