Don´t know if this one´s already been done, but I had to do it. Two of the greatest progressive metal albums of all time, or perhaps the best two. I really love Dream Theater but this time I think Queensr˙che made the top.

Make your choice.

As much as I love them both, for my money the clear winner would have to be Mindcrime.

Musically, they are both excellent - but Mindcrime has a much stronger concept, and is much tighter as an overall composition.

I cant believe it, Mindcrime is winning!

Dont get me wrong Mindcime is a fantastic album, I have the live version and find it brilliant, but IMO Scenes.... is the greatest album of all time, bar none. I think you know who I voted for.

Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

SFAM.

I like Queensr˙che and I like Dream Theater.

But I think Dream Theater has more variety in instruments.
I love the keyboards of DT.

I'd go for 'Metropolis' personally; I find it more progressive and musically interesting than '...Mindcrime', even though both are unquestionably terrific, modern prog rock/metal albums.

Operation Mindcrime for me, although SFAM is the best DT album.

Don't forget that OM was a revolutionary prog-metal album at that time while SFAM was, 11 year later, just a very good album.

SFAM has some far-fetched parts where especially Petrucci and Portnoy want to watch that they are gods on their instruments, the album concept being forgotten, while in Queensryche everybody has enough room to express its talent. For instance, I can hardly hear the bass of Myung whereas the sound of Jackson is great throught the OM. I admit that some instrumental parts are better in DT's SFAM but at the same time some songs are too long and a boring ... The concept and the flow of the album is much better in OM.

And Tate's amazing voice against the girl-singing-metal La Brie ...

Queensryche is great, but DT is better... "Metropolis part 2" wins!

For me, it's Operation Mindcrime cos I do believe Metropolis takes its roots in this album regarding the development of the story and the tone of it.

But Metro is very very good too.

Love at first sound for Metropolis pt.2:Scenes from a memory. No critics are accepted for this album because is superb an incredible drama pičce(in french style because it's cool), so a concept album very tangled and tied structure.no operation mindcrime can compare to this faboulous opera.

Do you know who am i and what am i?

Mindcrime is a very cool album... but nowhere near Scenes from a Memory is one of the most important albums of all time in prog... including the legendary 70's...

SFAM wins
