I use tape players for recording different Prog songs on one tape.

I think my tape player has long been idle.....the only tapes I have
that I want to keep are recordings of my Dad who was a church organist,
need to get them transferred onto another media I think...

Poor tapeplayers. They're the outcasts of the new millennium . I used to use them so often. Cd-burner killed the tape player star...

Bob Mould - Workbook I've still got loads of tapes in good condition, so I bought a decent tape deck rather than replace them all with CDs. Not so much prog in the tape collection, though - mostly indie/alternative/techno and suchlike. I used to pick up a lot of cheap tapes in clearout sales in Our Price, they used to have some amazing bargains. These days I like to check out charity shops for tapes, although you have to sift through all manner of dross to find the occasional gem. If you want to pick up 80s Genesis there always seem to be copies of Abacab etc for about 50p each - at that price they're almost worth it. |

Well, In still have a few prog albums that I have yet to update on CD.
Untill I do, my cassette player will still be of some use, I guess.

BTW discovered it is now increasingly difficult to get plain basic mini-disc portable players - ones with all the bells, whistles and hooters for >>100 quid, not problem - but I want a 30 quid one that just does play back! So cassette players are definitely for museum along side reel to reel, 8 track, and wind-up gramophones.
