IMHO, these - in the order listed: And while I'm not generally a big fan of compilations, Afterglow (3-disk set) is a very nice retrospective of the band's body of work, and also includes nearly a full CD of previously unreleased works. |

If you like Discovery thenmy personal tip would be to go for A New
World Record. It's my own favourite album by the band and close enough
in vibe to Discovery (though the latter is heavily disco influenced).
ANWR is slightly more 'classic' ELO (heavily Beatles-influenced but
with a decided 70s glam and art rock twist). Great tracks in Mission,
Telephone Line, So Fine, Livin' Thing etc.
You could also check out the follow-up to Discovery 'Time', which starts out very art-rocky before becoming very poppy but it does have great tunes like Prologue, Twilight and the lovely Ticket to the Moon. Great band - pure pop but great pop!  |

while not their 'proggiest' I would strongly recommend A New World Record (a great album regardless of 'label') followed by On the Third Day and Eldorado (more prog than the latter stuff) |
