Some members of the prog metal team are currently busy with real life issues ... I'll try to get the team together and finish discussion about the bands with three yes votes by the weekend. |

Can anyone recommend with what Mastodon album should I start, and are they all good and worth listening to?

Well, they only have two full-lengths out, the first being Remission (2002) and the second being Leviathan (2004). They are both good, but I give the edge to the latter. It's a concept album based on Moby Dick. They have an EP and a rare-tracks/b-sides compilation, but I haven't bothered with those. They are releasing a new album this year, and I heard a rumor that they were going to have an epic on this one, though I don't exactly what that will mean. http://www.relapse.com has some mp3s of theirs if you want to get an idea for their sound, though the samples aren't the height of their work. |
