I voted for Blackmore
As Malmsteen once quoted "There wasnīt a guitarist in the 70īs who even came close to Ritchie"

Meh,
- Van Halen brought the whole tapping triplet thing to the masses, but Steve Hackett invented it.
- I love Zeppelin, but Page is/was a pretty sloppy guitar player.
Does anybody know who Jag Tanna is? Now that guy can play guitar.

Well, if you're looking for the best in Hard Rock, I'd vote for Page. On the other hand, Hendrix was the best overall, in my opinion, but what he played I wouldn't call Hard Rock, thus he doesn't belong into this list (same, btw, with Walsh and Gallagher).
Hard Rock:
1. Jimmy Page 2. Eddie Van Halen 3. Ritchie Blackmore 4. Pete Townshend

wow its hard to pick between these choices
but i have to say, the best would have to be Hendrix, while he isnt as good as many guitarists today, no one came close to his talent while he was still alive
but Blackmore comes in such a close second. the malmsteen quote says it best no one could compare to him.
but then there's Tony Iommi who helped forge heavy metal and who doesnt like his riffs in black sabbath?
as for Jimmy Page, i never even noticed anything remotely special about him, or any other Zeppelin member for that matter. it saddens me to see him rated almost as high as hendrix

Eddie Van Halen!
Not really too big a fan of anyone on that list though.
