I am into operatic metal very much and have around 20 albums. Favourites include Avantasia, Ayreon, Kamelot, Aina. Some may not class all these bands and others as operatic metal but htey are in my eyes :).

I have indeed come across them...And I belive I need to take a valium before posting my reply... For some reason, wannabe goth-teenagers have recently lifted Nightwish up from the musical trash pile, in which they really belong, and the band has become the

Tarja is hot (and she's impressive as a vocalist). I like the band, the do more for me than most other power metal bands.

Nightwish is not prog metal, they are Symphonic metal.  Now some symphonic metal bands blend with prog metal to form symphonic-prog metal (and sometimes meld with power metal)

Bands like

I just recently discovered this band and think they're great. I like the symphonic element, and I love how dramatic it all is! Mainly thanks to the opera/choir and power chords. I just bought Wishmaster and the title track is brilliant.
