The Keith Tippett Group was a jazz-rock-fusion super group consisting of Tippett (a young 22 years) on piano with such standouts as Robert Wyatt (drums), Elton Dean (alto saxophone), Nick Evan (trombone) and Phil Howard (drums), including a full orchestra and a host of other excellent musicians.

The album Dedicated To You, But You Weren't Listening, in my humble opinion, was a breakthrough recording for the rock and jazz worlds. Released on Vertigo Records in 1971 and now available on 180-gram virgin vinyl in 2003 on Akarma Records, it includes the original colorful and thought provoking artwork in an LP format with traditional gatefold sleeves. The cover is classic album art with an exclusivity only found in the dominion of Roger Dean. It comes as no surprise that the great artist (made famous by all of the Yes covers) designed it.

Keith Tippet Group was foreseen on my list of inclusion, but if you want to write the bio

oF course it should be included as well as its predecessor You Are Here , I am There>> excellent jazz-rock

Almost the same line-up on both

As usual?

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

This appears to me to go nicely with Neil Ardley's "Kaleidoscope of Rainbows", or am I wrong?  Not having heard either, I am always interested in hearing some jazz heavyweight albums from the '70s.

I see Neil Ardley's album has been re-released, so I may have to get myself a copy, along with this Keith Tippett album of course.
