Just received this month's issue of 'Classic Rock' and they report an interview by David Gilmour in which he states categorically that last year's Live8 appearance by Pink Floyd will be the last time Pink Floyd appear in any way, shape or form. To paraphrase.. He say's he's 60 years old now, it was good while it lasted, playing with Waters last year put to bed some old demons, but that's it - the end, finito, all gone, no more, adios amigos. Probably means they'll announce dates next year, then

At least they won't be making a mediocre comeback album. I think the last year's performance was a great way to end their career.

I agree. Anyway news is that Waters is touring with Mason and maybe Wright next summer, so after all some Floyd thing is happening again.

A lot of people payed big money to see Floyd without Waters(I was one of them),who is just as integral to Floyd's sound as Gilmour is.

A few days ago, there was an interview with Gilmour in my newspaper (De Standaard) where he said that that it's an enormous enterprise to make a PF album and organize a tour. He said that he only wanted to do it once in every 15 years! That already made me suspicious if there was going to be some other Floyd album + tour.

If you listen to Waters's live album 'In The Flesh', it's just like a Floyd album anyway (and at least Waters plays songs from 'Animals', which Gilmour always avoided post Waters).

Very good, Waters has already proved that he is great musician and not a popper as Gilmour, so no harm done to Floyd with David's absence (I am joking of course) - the trouble is that Waters Wright and Mason can't tour under the name of Pink Floyd, cause this name belongs legally to Gilmour, but I think he would not mind.

Hang on... I thought the name 'pink floyd' belonged to Waters. Wasn't there some sort of legal battle about the ownership of the name in the mid 80's just after Roger split from the band and made it public that he wanted to put the band to bed?????????
Hey, I might be wrong, as the remainder of Floyd at the time won the case... (could some one clarify that for me????)... Anyhow... didnt Syd name the band in the first place??

Last time Waters played, Mason turned up on drums so there's obviously still a connection there, but Wright? I seem to remember it was Waters who sacked Wright from Floyd during the recording of 'The Wall' (most of the keyboards on that album were eventually played by Bob Ezrin), so unless there's been some sort of reconciliation between the two...

Not sure about that, but a good point, in the late 1980s if Barrett in any shape or form had turned round and said "Guy's what about me, I should have that name, you're welcome to use the name Pink Floyd, but don't get childish over it, I was a founder as well and I want some ownership of the band name as well, despite I ain't in Floyd no more!!"
If Syd was able to say something, I reckon the legeal battles wouldn't have been so bitter if Syd was allowed some ownership as well.

Yes he did, he named it after blues musicians Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, or at least that's what I've heard.

Youve got a good point there progman. For a moment, i thought there might have been something like a trustee estate in regards to his recordings and legal rights.... I would have loved someone to have said that, at least on his behalf... Oh well... At least now there seems to be some reconciliation.
Only time will tell with more Floyd music (I personally doubt it, thou).

Just to clarify, Gilmour is currently touring, Rick Wright is also playing alongside with him. Roger is touring this summer and Nick Mason will be joining him.
I believe I read somewhere that Waters asked Rick if he wanted to tour with him but he hasn't received a reply.
