A new progressive music festival in Montreal:
Le Festival des Musiques Progressives de Montréal (FMPM)
It has long been the dream of many Montrealers to have a progressive music festival of their own right here... thanks to
ProgQuébec and Unicorn Digital, it is now a reality!

Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16 2006 at the
Gesù - Centre de Créativité
(1200 De Bleury Street, Montreal, QC), get ready for the First Annual Edition of Le Festival des Musiques Progressives de Montréal!

The featured artists during this two-day festival will be:
Miriodor, Jérôme Langlois (of Maneige), Kaos Moon, Karcius, Hatfield and the North and Echolyn.

Regular tickets are $80 (CAN) and are available through the ProgQuébec website, as well as from Admission and the Gesù boxoffice. Gold tickets, wich were put on sale on April 1st, are now sold out!

Visit our website at
www.fmpm.net for everything you want to know about the festival!

FMPM's goal is to work closely with Quebec artists, promoters and passionate fans to create a friendly, engaging event that will enrich the progressive music scene, by exposing more local artists to more fans, and enabling deeper and more lasting connections to be made.

There will be a host of activities surrounding the festival, including a pre-show on
Thursday September 14 featuring
Talisma and Hamadryad. Tickets for this event are now available from the Unicorn Digital website at www.unicornrecords.com/concerts.html and from ProgMontreal by sending an email to [email protected].

In addition of helping grow the progressive musical scene in Quebec and helping Quebec artists gain international recognition, establishing a stable festival in Montreal will allow more opportunities for bands outside Quebec to come here to perform. This will create a stronger local scene for prog bands touring Quebec outside of the FMPM, and will create a larger base in Quebec of people who are aware of the entire current prog scene and festival circuit (NEARFest, ProgDay, RoSFest, BajaProg, etc.)
.

And of course, keep an eye on this site for the latest word on FMPM!

Hello,

It's just over three months to the first Montreal Progressive Music Festival, and there is a bit of news to report.

We are now taking reservations for program advertisements for the event. If you can't make it this year but still want to support us, this would be a great way to help make the event a success this year. This is also a unique chance to get more well known to 400 people mostly in the Montreal and surrounding areas, who may not be paying attention to other English language media. If you are a prog vendor or band trying to get more established in Quebec, this is a pretty obvious way to get started. Information about advertizing in the FMPM program is available on our web-site at http://www.fmpm.net; click on Program Advertizing. To reserve, contact [email protected]

If you want to actually come to our event and sell stuff, table rental information is also available on the web-site at http://www.fmpm.net. Again, this is an excellent way to get into the Montreal market, and it will also be very helpful to us in our first year. To reserve, contact [email protected]

The Montreal Progressive Music Festival (Festival des Musiques Progressives de Montreal) runs September 15th to 16th, and features international acts Hatfield and the North and Echolyn in additional to four of Montreal's progrsesive ensembles, Miriodor, Jerome Langlois' Molignak, Kaos Moon, and Karcius. A pre-show on the 14th will showcase Hamadryad and Talisma. Tickets are still available, so if you've been planning a weekend in Montreal now's a pretty good time.

Regards,
Sean
