I just recently made my second order with Amazon... I find it quick, easy, and quite a bit cheaper than buying from CD stores in my area.
My first order I bought: Gentle Giant - Acquiring the taste, Three friends, and (my favourite, I downloaded it a long time ago and I just had to have it) Octopus Strawbs - From the Witchwood Caravan - In the land of grey and pink This order (hasnt arrived yet, ordered it the other day): Steve Hackett: Voyage of the Acolyte, Please Dont Touch, Spectral Mornings, and Defector (all remastered versions [woo, bonus tracks!]) I didnt have any problems with the first order except the jewel case lid on 'acquiring' didnt fit the bottom of the case for some reason, and had a little crack... so I just replaced it, no big deal... It came quicker than I thought it would too... Well anyways... I look forward to what everyone says |

I never buy from the store, and sometimes from sellers. The store itself is generally pricey, but the sellers have good deals (a shame shipping is $2.50 or something per CD )

Depends. Sometimes Laser's Edge is better, as are other stores. Amazon abd ebay have sh*t prices for shipping, though.

Im not a customer there, but a friend of mine is. Some of the CD's there are very pricey indeed.

Oh, do they not have the 'super saver' shipping thing in the US? I order from Amazon.ca and theres free shipping on orders $39 and up... Which makes me very happy |

Amazon has some great selection and good prices for the most part, but as of lately I have employed the services of smaller retailers (Syn-Phonic, Laser's Edge etc.) more often as their prices are better and service MUCH quicker.

That only applies for orders shipped directly from amazon. I buy almost all used, and don't get such a luxury, though it about evens itself out I guess.

very rarely use Amazon.... the international stuff is easier to get,
prices are great, and the service excellent from syn-phonic.
Didn't know until recently (when tracking down some obscure symphoninc
group) that the owner is also a prog record company owner.
Explains the insane selection of albums he has....

I used to buy there more in the past (until 2 years ago) and then I found some better online stores with a bigger prog and metal catalogue and cheaper shippings. But before every purchase I make I do a price comparison between at least 3 stores with Amazon being one of them and they are competitive most of the times (especially the sellers), but so far I haven't made any big order from them as the cd prices are either higher or the shipping is making it not worth it. But it always best to check.

would you please name them? I'm currently looking for a good shop, which ships internationally and not that darn pricey as Amazon. |

I used to mostly use Amazon. Now I'm more likely to use ebay or other online prog stores.

I just came back from my favorite local record store, where I listened to the new Enslaved album. It cost 16.99 EUR in the store, so I didn't buy it. Instead I ordered it from an Amazon marketplace merchant for 12.33 including shipping.
Sorry to the employees of the record store, but I'm not that wealthy to ignore those 4.66 EUR! |

I use Amazon most of the time. I recommend that you browse through their bargain cds every month because often they have some great classics marked down considerably. For example, I got the remastered versions of Genesis' Nursery Cryme and Wind & Wuthering for under $8 each last month and that ain't bad. I also find that if I choose the cheapest shipping I still get my order in 2-3 working days anyway.

I've only recently started buying online and Amazone has proven to be very cheap for a lot of things that I bought. It generally beats Play.com, and the highstreat doesnt even compare.
