Hey folks,

New to the board - as you can see. I plan on sticking around for a while. I've been in search for a good message board to discuss music at, and this seems like a good one.

A bit about myself,
I've been a music fanatic, lover and obsessor since I was six years old and discovered Kiss. Many years later, I still have the same ardent love for music, although I no longer like Kiss. My top 5 all-time favorite recording groups and artists are as follows in order of all-time favorite descending
1) Elvis Presley
2) The Mahavishnu Orchestra
3) Peter Gabriel
4) Johnny Cash
5) Stan Kenton & His Orchestra
My top 5 all-time favorite albums in the same order:
1) Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley
2) The Mahavishnu Orchestra - Visions of the Emerald Beyond
3) Peter Gabriel - So
4) Stan Kenton & His Orchestra - Sketches On Standards
5) Simon & Garfunkel - Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme
I know there is only one progressive band, and one quasi-progressive artist in that list, but alas - do not worry, I love many progressive bands: King Crimson, Comus, Floyd, Yes, Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band, Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, Asia, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, Primus, Gong, Focus, Amon Duul II, etc.
I am more a music-lover, critic, appreciator than a musician, although I do have an acoustic and I will break it out an occasionally play Baby, I Love Your Way by Frampton and if your lucky you'll catch me play The Only Living Boy in New York by Simon & Garfunkel.

I love you all.

Welcome. Great list of names. Both prog and none prog. A music fanatic like yourself will probably discover a lot of new bands here by streaming songs on the band pages. I know I have. Do you know the 70's italian symphonic prog scene, or krautrock besides Amon Düül II? Banco, Can, Magma...?

But don't believe in me

Don't believe in me
