Because it isn't over 8 mins. But it's an amazing song indeed!

... Which highlights the defficiencies of your approach to selection. There's no way One isn't a total epic. Probably Fade to Black, too. |

And Welcome Home (Sanatorium) as well? Can't measure epics in minutes. Maybe you should change it to favorite/best 8min. or Metallica long track? Anyway, voted for the obvious one, Master of Puppets. Edited by Rocktopus - June 21 2006 at 04:19 |

It was a tough call, as I really adore "The Call of Ktulu" (the perfect soundtrack to the story that inspired it, HP Lovecraft's masterpiece IMHO). However, I voted for "Disposable Heroes", which, besides being great in a musical sense, has one of the strongest anti-war sets of lyrics I've ever seen.

Mmmm.. Metallica has some nice epics, I have to vote for "To live is to die" ther best epic track IMO, but "Call of Kutulu" and "Orion" is close.

I still have problems with deciding which one I like best.
It's a tie between Ktulu, Disposable, Orion and Justice.

I voted Disposable Heroes, but And Justice For All is tied with it for me. Edited by Rising Force - June 22 2006 at 23:30 |

Probably the most difficult poll I've taken place in, and I'm sure I'm gonna be rather unsupported saying that The Outlaw Torn is my favorite.

...And Justice For All.
However, Master of Puppets is like my bands standard cover. (our most basic, warm up, always playing cover).
Infact, whenever we've had to try out new members, we always get them to learn MOP. If they can't play it, they're not good enough (harsh, but oh well).

No, I also support this alltough I like most of these songs/epics very much. My favorite is the version of The Outlaw Torn of S&M.

Ktulu for me (the version from the criminally under-rated S&M album), closely followed by Master Of Puppets.
