Who's babies do you want to have????

Edgar Froese's. Thanks to scientific advances men can actually have babies with other men these day. I forget how it's done but I read about it in the science magazine I subscribe to. But I hasten to add: I don't really want to have his babies,it was just a joke. Not that I think that any of you failed to get it,but you never know...

Actually if I ever met Edgar I probably wouldn't say anything,I'd just faint from complete and utter overexcitement. It's what I usually do in those situations.

I know the feeling. I met Jeff Lynne once at a function and when I plucked up the courage to say something truly profound to this man who had been a central musical pillar of my childhood, all I could say was was 'Could you hand me that drink there please?'

I need lessons from Threefates in this respect. Although when it comes to Jeff Lynne and romantic liasons, I might draw the line.

I actually got invited to interview  for radio Allan Holdsworth before a Nottingham gig in the mid 90's. I turned up and discovered the tape recorder's batteries had died on the short journey. Made no difference to Holdsworth, who invited me and my buddy (i.e. the complete Leicestershire fan club at the time), to the bar and bought us a pint each........................ . We then talked for 45 minutes: Tony Williams' came up the conversation, but soon after which  Allan requested that we didn't talk music any more - so the conversation loosened up as it turned to families and beer!!!

I was never that big a fan of Deep Purple or Rainbow so I think that what he's doing now is far more interesting than the generic hard rock of either of those bands. I can't quite get into it as much as I'd like though since it's just a tad too poppy. A slight echo of Abba seems to linger over the whole thing that puts me off a bit. But all credit to him for branching out in an entirely different direction and doing something that was completely unexpected at his age. Much better than doing pathetic jukebox tours playing "Smoke On The Water" for beer bellied 50 year olds and their kids like his former DP compatriots.

^ Wow, Blackmore with Abba influences? Who'd have thought.

I'm not a huge fan of DP but I do love 'Live In Japan'.

I'd ask Mike Patton if and when he's going to do a new Bungle album.

I'd like to ask David Gilmour if he'd record a song for me....then I'd ask him to just play that opening guitar solo from Coming Back to Life...(otherwise I would like for David to make me cry)

If I could say what I really wanted to say to Keith Emerson... which is funny, I had quite a lot of alone time with him last Oct... but still couldn't say to him what I wanted to say...."Get over it Keith... go hug Greg.. and lets get this frigging next ELP album ready to go"

I did say to him however, after a comment he made about Greg... that I was feeling like the abused child of 2 divorced rock stars...

I don't think I could converse with him about music without sounding like a blithering idiot and maniacal fan. I'd have to keep it to beer and cover art.

Much as i adore Zappa's music, I would have loved to have said to him " That 'Conceptual Continuity' stuff. Its a load of old cobblers aint it?"
