Gabor Gado is a Hungarian Jazz guitarist who studied classical violin and guitar at the Budapest conservatory, until he switched later to the Jazz departement. Since 1995 he shares his time between Budapest and Paris where he founded in 2000 the 'Gabor Gado Quartet'. In 2002 he released 'Othodoxia'. I heard it first in a record shop and I thought it was  a new John Abercrombie record, the two guitarists have a similar sound. Gado's compostions are higly interesting a mixture of Post Bop and Free Jazz with a dark brooding mood.

I am currently getting more acquainted with Jazz. Since you say he and Abercrombie have similar sounds I think it would be not a bad thing to listen to him as well.

Abercrombie's excellent, so I'm sure I'd like this as well.

I heard yesterday the follow up record to'Orthodixia'  , 'Unknown Kingdom' (2004), it's even darker then 'Orthodoxia', moving into Jazz Chamber music, mostly all tracks are played rubato and the main focus is the melodic material, sometimes played unisono by the band with very interesting solos another great record. again with a great cover.
