i somehow think that megadeth is better thrash than metallica. it has many good things. but macro-structure of megadeth's songs is not so Big. and it's too funny often. and many songs are very like the others (although it's a system that works (not fully to me)). Metallica has about 5 songs under 3min, when gadeth has the most.

i don't respect old ones, or authorities more than nameless (but i admit they're respected for a reason usually). must put them in same line - although it's not their fault that they have "fewer" good influences to follow and modify. (and it's almost like saying beatles are the best metal band of all time)

If it had to be anyone on that list it would be Bathory, scoff all you like, but he was a massive innovator and had huge influence on virtually all extreme metal.
