These are the full studioalbums with I know of with amazing percussionist/vocalist/songwriter etc..Robert Wyatt contributing on all or most of the tracks. I vote for Rock Bottom, but love most of these. What is your favorite?

It's either Third or Rock Bottom. Impossible to choose between those two.

Rock Bottom, with Shleep a close second. The Animals soundtrack aside, there isn't a substandard album among them.

I have never quite recovered after hearing soft's first album...and they were unhappy with it! Loved Wyatt's early drumming and vocals most, but still a fan of all of his later stuff.

I go with "The end of an ear", one of the most innovative, creative, unclassificable expression of prog-rock

Only one vote for Third, and no votes at all for Volume Two? Rock Bottom is mine, and obviously many peoples favorite, but I was sure Soft Machine were a lot more known and popular than Robert Wyatt solo.

BTW: His latest album Cuckooland is highly reccomended.

I don't have Volume Two yet, but have an Anthology with some tracks from it.

I voted for Rock Bottom.  A work of a genius.  A masterpiece and my favourite album of all time, of any genre.

Seriously!

And that's tough for me to say when I'm a VdGG fanboy.

I have one and two on one CD. A great buy! Volume Two is fantastic. Wonderful atmosphere and all the songs flows brilliantly together. Its that Carlfloydfan one star, ruining the rating for it.

A natural, more sophisticated follow up to the first, and a lot more fun than Third (That still is a great classic).

I indeed plan to get that 2-in-1 deal sometime soon, as I believe it's worth the money.  The Pataphysical Alphabet is great!

Both Soft Machine Volume I and II and Rock Bottom are works of genius, I find it impossible to choose. Too much great music!

Have to admit I don't know all the Soft Machine catalogue, but "Rock Bottom" is a genuine 5 star masterpeice, and one of my very favourite albums.

Soft Machine Third is my favourite but I'll listen to anything with Robert Wyatt on. I first heard him on Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports album. His voice was the only good thing on it!

I love Rock Bottom, but actually like the live versions on the Royal Theater Drury Lane album a lot more.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

I think if you get hold of the two compilation albums of Robert's work up to 1995, Flotsom Jetsam(Rough Trade):
Flotsam and Jetsam and Going Back A Bit (Virgin), then you'll discover a much bigger variety of support musicians on studio recordings and guest appearances on other artists' studio recordings.

Personal favourites is Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports
Fictitious Sports and a couple of Michael Mantler's albums:

and considering the number of tunes Robert sings/plays on these, most of these albums should be added to the poll list above.

I voted for Third  but I love Rock Bottom too.  March by Matching Mole is a great live album from 1972-great drumming from Wyatt!
