Apparently Eddie Van Halen has come out of hiding.

Seems he is moving away from rock and getting more into fusion. This sounds quite exciting!

Pretty cool.

I would love to see EVH do something away from Van Halen.A solo album would be really great, preferrably a fusion-based instrumental one.

I think he still has it in him to release something great. Listening to songs like Spanish Fly one can hear what he is capable of.
I also think he should release something solo. I hope heīs cleaned himself up (drinking problem-he was seen completely drunk at an Iron Maiden concert a few weeks ago)

Jazzrock fusion is not that surprising considering Van Halen's interaction and admiration of  Allan Holdworth - check the liner notes on Holdsworth's Road Games, and dig deep for a boot of Holdsworth guesting with the band.

I know,EVH admires Holdsworth alot.

But it's Clapton he worships.

That should be interesting... EVH is undeniably a great guitarist, though I've never really liked VH's music that much.

I remember reading that early Van Halen (when they were called Mammoth) played a lot of Cream numbers. Eddie always mentions Eric Clapton as his main influence.
Although Van Halen 3 isnīt such a great album there is some incredible guitar playing on the song "A Year To The Day"
