boy does this describe this forum!!!

They get slated a lot in prog circles, but this is mainly
due to their fans who tend to get stuck in a rut when
they find Rush and think nothing could ever compete.
This is nonsense of course but Rush have made
some fantastic music. I honestly think there's not a
bad track on any album up until Presto. This, for me
was the start of their decline. I was very disappointed
with Counterparts ... their worst ever. Get *anything*
other than the last 3 (even then, with the exception of
Counterparts, they're ok). A great, great band that
contains brilliant musicians. I know Peart's lyrics are
pseudo-everthing garbage but the music is so good
-cut and paste

I dont hate them, but when I think of progressive rock
I certainly dont think of RUSH. I personally think there
is a debate for all three choices.
pseudo-everthing garbage lyrics(and that ratboy
voice) is the problem.

Palin: We done oranges, apples, grapefruit...
Jones: Whole and segments.

They aren't prog, more just rock this days.They were more "progressive" at one time. I still like them alot.

whoa whoa, how can you say that? the material on albums like a farewell to kings and hemispheres is not just hard rock with "prog flair," its PROG! If Rush is hard rock with prog flair, than groups like Opeth or Queensryche shouldn't be considered prog either.

After seeing Spinal Tap do 'Stonehenge' it's impossible to keep a straight face through '2112'.

They have a well deserved place in my heart, my adolescence and the archives, but the world has moved on since then.
