Deep Purple has never released a bad album;but from the comments and reviews on this site, these albums seem to be the least popular among fans of Deep Purple. Still, each album definitely has its highlights.  Which one do you enjoy more?

I have a soft spot for Stormbringer.

Undoubtedly 'Stormbringer' is the best of that bunch. I never heard 'Slaves and Masters' but I don't like Joe Lynn Turner in Rainbow so I have little chance of liking him in Purple...I heard a fair bit of 'The Battle Rages On' from various live albums around that period and I found all the songs quite boring, plus the album's patchwork origins aren't all that endearing.
'House Of Blue Light' is a very weak album, imo- the 80s production was a huge mistake, but in any case the songs are mostly poor.
'Abandon' is second best, but lacks something compared to 'Rapture Of The Deep' and the excellent 'Bananas'.

'Stormbringer' almost turned me off them- it was the first album I had of theirs but wasn't at all the heavy rock I expected. However, years later I finally began to accept the album for what it was. Some songs are fairly average ('Holy Man', 'Love Don't Cost A Thing', 'High Ball Shooter') but none are bad. Some are classics- the title track, 'Gypsy', 'Lady Double Dealer' and 'Soldier Of Fortune'. Sadly, the remaster of this (when it arrives) doesn't appear to have any unreleased treasures as I'd have hoped for, judging by an article I read...Cry

'Stormbringer' hands down. There's Glenn Hughes on it for starters, and that funky groove is really quite nice. As to anything with JL Turner on...Dead

It wouldn't be my choice, but Who Do We Think We Are should definitely have been in this pollDead
from the list, Stormbringer might be my choice. I don't understand why such a strong (and funky!) album is so underrated. apart from the infamous last track (which is but a remake of When a Blind Man Cries) it's quite a solid effort, though not up to the standards set by Lord in BurnWink

I also have a soft spot for Abandon.. poor album got no votes by now! maybe it is somewhat overlooked!

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

It's got to be slow
Taking love the only way
It's got to just flow
Making love and taking time to let it grow

I used to quite like House Of Blue Light... so I've voted for it, but it probably wouldn't get much of a play now.  I never really got into Stormbringer; Burn was much better.

Comparing Stormbringer with 4 other "off" albums from DP is a no-brainer.

I wasn't comparing anything you know; i just said to choose your favourite album out of these least popular DP albums, that's all.

I do not necessarily agree with Christi who has posted this poll saying that Purple never released  a bad album. I quite like Deep Purple for more than 36 years but I have rated "Abandon" and "Slaves" as a one star work. "Stormbringer" and "House .." received two. The only album in the list that reached three stars was "The Battle...). It was mainly due to "Anya", "Talk About Love" as well as "A Twist In The Tale". Other weaker albums (all Marks) are IMO "Book of Taliesyn" and "Bananas" (both two stars). The "orchestra" works were not my best experience with the band either.

So, logically, my vote went to "The Battle".

Cheers.
