Surprisingly enough it was back in early 2004, I did a google search for Progressive Death Metal and this was the site a can up with. But it took me long time to work up the courage to post in the forum.

I googled progressive rock and found myself in prog heaven, with plenty of great artists to discover, what a great day that was.

On summer 2004 i was searching for some yugoslavian prog bands on google and i was introduced to this site, first i read reviews and i looked for bands from other countries than England ,i realised how much countries produced excellent prog music and how this music could be so limitless, and this site helped me to discover some amazing music,in that time progarchives became my biggest source for prog rock purchases and remains it today, progarchives is my absolute favorite site, because 70% music i listen to i found it here.

At school in early 2005, I was looking for somewhere to get Yes mp3s (I'd heard Roundabout on the radio and grabbed that, but I wanted more) since my school had blocked the use of DC++. I came here and found myself an mp3 of Close To The Edge (back when you could download the mp3s from here) which I didn't care for at first. However, I stayed around when I noticed all of the love for Genesis (whose discography I already had at the time).

Time passed and now it's my favourite site.

I was looking for info on a Karmakanic album and google "progressive rock".Never even looked in the forum for about a year, just used the archives as a resource. I was laid up for a bit after getting severe chemical burns(hydroflouric acid)at work and was bored and my daughter said it might be fun for me to join this forum. This was my first forum experience, and the only one I go to.

About one year ago I found the link on another prog website (it may have been Sea of Tranquility, but I'm not sure). As soon as  I saw the forum, I had to register at once, so great it looked to me! And now, here I am... the bane of all DT fans!Tongue

you gave the speach regarding your (surprising and somehow under uncertain conditions) ascension towards the heights of Prog Archives in your "I'm one year old" thread. Wink

I had been listening to Swallow the Sun quite a bit... my son had turned me on to them. I decided to go to their website to see what they are all about. By the way, the website is really good. They link to numerous bands, and most, if not all of those bands have their band members list their influences. This one band in particular, Red Number Two, all loved, and listed Oceansize as one of their major influences. I fell in love with Oceansize the moment I heard the first song I listened to... Catalyst hooked me right away. One day I was reading that Oceansize was going to support this band called Porcupine Tree. I had never heard them so I googled Porcupine Tree..... and here I am, and am going broke buying PT.
