Please, don't move this thread to the "Suggest artist" section -- the suggestion is already there... but no-one has replied to it... yet...
Has anybody ever heard about the Michael Giles album called Progress?

I am shocked.
I am frustrated.
I am hugely disappointed.
I do not want to insult anyone, honestly, , but this attitude seems to me a little bit strange .
Of course, Michael Giles never has been in so much popular band, but, nevertheless, at least one of the bands he has been a member of is not that obscure.
A King Crimson drummer, one of the founding members of King Crimson, at last, who, amongst other bands, also took part in Giles, Giles & Fripp and in McDonald & Giles, has a solo album and it does not touch anyone in progarchives.

I know the Giles, giles and friip album, the Brondesbury tapes, Mc Donald and Giles album, Pete Sinfield/Still, but not this "Progress". From which year is it? |

1978. It is written: "Circa 1978" on the cover. I believe it was recorded earlier in 70's but was released in 1978.
I also posted an opening (and, sadly, a lone so far) message in the Artist Suggestion section... about the same issue...

And don't forget 21st Century Schizoid Band - at least their early album - had Michael Giles on board, and to show the band was a bit of a family affair also had his brother Peter Giles and son-in-law Jakko Jaksczyk. Ian Wallace replaced Michael Giles for the more recent gigs and CDs.

No, I did not! There are threads on both 21st Century Schizoid Band and Michael Giles at the "Suggest an Artist" section here in the forum, and in both the latest posts are mine (right for the moment).

"Progress" is even available for purchase on amazon.com!
My only M Giles exposure is from "In the Court of the Crimson King"...but it's among the best drumming I've heard from anyone. I'll add "Progress" and "McDonald & Giles" to my insanely long list of things to check out. |

The CD release was, actually, in 2002...

If you like the earlier King Crimson then McDonald & Giles is super-recommended. Giles' Progress, however, isn't so similar to ITCOTCK... Nevertheless, it is interesting in its own way.
