I realize that the prospect of Death being called prog will cause some of you to burst into hysteria and declare me to be the spawn of satan, but their final album The Sound of Perseverance is without a doubt (in my mind at least) a great prog metal album.

The guitars are no heavier than Dream Theater, or a lot of prog metal bands. And the vocals are pretty heavy, but not growly/grun

Actually I think the guitars are a lot heavier than Drean Theater.

Useful Idiot the complexity is actually simple. I know because I used to play almost all of those songs. Then again there is some great simple structured music. H

Awesome album by a band that created a whole new direction in heavy metal. The term deathmetal came after Death's debut album "Scream bloody gore". "The sound of perseverance" was their last album (Chuck Schuldiner died of cancer) and a true classic when i
marching on together!!
