Review by priceg5 Posted 10:00:06 AM EST, 11/10/2004
Myself being a big genesis fan, i had read the reviews on this site many times before and
this album had caught my eye time and again. After i purchased the album from my local
record store i took it home and i was instantly blown away by the title track 'Close to the
edge' this track is excellent, well worthy of the purchase price alone; however, when i
listened to the next tracks they didnt live up to my expectations, now dont get me wrong
they are good tracks, i just prefer my music to be more synthesisor based, all in all a good
album, i would recommend anyone to check it out just for track number one, sorry if i have
offended anyone.

Well spotted! These reviews are a couple of years old, so how come admin havn't spotted them before? These reviews also say nothing and were obviously posted to manipulate the prog archives chart.
I hope Easy Livin' does the right thing and deletes them!

DEEP PURPLE — Purplexed
Review by Salviaal Total waste of money here. I saw this in a store and was thinking what's the point of buying a worst-of album, and furthermore the worst songs are selected from some of their worst albums (with the exception of Anya, which was the best song on its album). The cover art is perplexing, as usually they just dump a band picture on the cover, maybe they found this picture on a media cd? Posted Wednesday, August 15, 2007, 10:53 EST
DEEP PURPLE — The Deep Purple Collection Review by Salviaal — First review of this album —Another one??? I haven't actually bought this one, but from on the tracklisting I can deduct that this is another compilation of their two 80s albums, with additional live tracks from that era. Now, it's silly enough to make a compilation spanning merely two studio albums (plus some very weak live renditions of classics), but the worst thing is that there have been at least two others of its kind: "Knocking at your Backdoor: The Best of Deep Purple" and "Smoke on the Water" - both having the same tracklisting. It's is a pitiful attempt to cash in with these, quite frankly, subpar songs. If you are looking to get to know Deep Purple, avoid this one like a plague!
