Without knowing the software and its limits I can't guess what can be put into use or not. I haven't tried to delete member ratings and I'm almost sure that I'm not granted to do it, but this means that I've not received any "overflow error" message.

However the credibility of the site is put under risk. My last "suggestion" is a disclaimer on the home page. People must know that the ratings are not reliable and if they are here to decide whether to buy an album or not they better read the reviews.

A little while back we had a discussion about this, and luckily so - these posts were eradicated from the thread as no one should be able to double what these idiots have been doing.

Just so you know, and I can vouch for admin's reasons.
Otherwise, if you, and others for that matter, feel discouraged by these buggers, then I urge you to PM an admin, and maybe he'll clear things up better than what I have offered here.

Nahh. He's talking only restricting the ratings-only, which I think is a great idea.

It's not a big problem to get out of the newbie zone.
But it takes time and you have to repeat it for each of the fake accounts. In the case of Jose Natal we are speaking of about 50. It would make it more difficult, specially if you are using a software.
We can't force people to join the forum just so they can review or rate albums - some of our top reviewers have never posted on the forum.

One simple solution would be to limit the number of ratings-only that anyone can make in a 24hour period.
I'm just looking for ideas, the important is doing something.
Sorry, (and I do appreciate the good intentions), but this isn't "doing something". Fixing a stupid little overflow error that stops us deleting member ratings would be "doing something" - suggesting ideas that won't be put into use is not.

I'd be happier still if he fixed the bug in the delete all ratings routine.

Let's think.....Remove the top 100 from the home page ?  Even the most crap of the reviews says more than hundreds of ratings. Maybe the top 100 can be sacrificed...maybe just for a while...

We have restricted the possibility to vote in the polls to newbies, perhaps something similar can be done for ratings.

How can that idiot be stopped?

What gets me is that if I wanted to be a complete jackass and troll the website, I would have chosen albums that would have really riled feathers such as Abacab or Big Generator, or a real bottom-of-the-barrel scraper like Timeline by Renaissance. This dude may just genuinely love these tributes since they're neither lauded or reviled. Really odd.
Have you given a look to the ratings of Close to The Edge? He has done the same to anything of YES, I don't think he has ever listened to any of those tribute albums, then look at the  sequenco of the fake names he's using. It's always the same, so it's like he's using a software for doing it.

His ratings do not have effects on albums like Big Generator because of the high number of reviews and ratings that it has, but look here. Some "regular" raters are between his many fake accounts on the Big Generator's ratings
(currently it has the 14% of 5-stars ratings)

Why does he behave so? Only because he's an idiot who hasn't understood what's this site is about and why we do rate albums.

The Rush album Clockwork Angels is scheduled for release on June 12th 2012 so all ratings have been deleted.
