Topic: Prog Hard Rock???? Posted: October 01 2006 at 01:13 |
Can we define prog hard rock from those super classic rock bands whose show some elements and extended compositions, like Zep, Deep Purple & Doors, and others for example?

That's enough | I'm afraid that's right. I've never considered Zep, Purple or Doors to be progressive. They *progressed* but all three were HEAVILY blues-based. In fact they were all, technically, heavy blues. There is perhaps 'heavy prog' like Rush or Saga.

I don't think The Doors have something in common with hard rock...
By the way, I (personally) consider them rather Progressive.

The Doors went into Progressive territory a few times - I think the songs are quite obvious - and barely blues-based at all.
