So...why did you name yourself after them then?

this band trys too hard to be like bands that they look up to.
'long and long ago' is a litl bit too much like Yes's 'Parallel's' wait no its practically the same song
Try being original!!!!  I mean i cant think of one great band that was original and actually created good music wait perhaps Gentle Giant or ELP. Dead

I had to go with The Inconsolable Secret but Lex Rex was a close second.

ClapClap Not only great music but a great bunch of talented guys and gals who really care about their audience. I was also fortunate enought to get an autographed "Live at Belmont" DVD. Very entertaining piece of work and since it is most unlikely I will ever get to see them live, the DVD's certainly make the music more "real" for me. Oh - I like most of their work but "Lex Rex" is my favourite by a micron over "The Inconsolable Secret".Big smile

Once is hardly enuf to judge that album.  It is a grower.  Some of disk two can drag, but it will reveal itself if you give it time.  Do you think at this point in their career they simply wanted to make an album with a few hooks that would grab the listener after one listen?  I think they are beyond that.

Has anyone read the poem the album is based on all the way through?  Haven't gotten around to it yet.  Wondered if you found it initeresting.

Then pick up Lex Rex or Shadowlands. The latter might be good because as a concept album, Lex Rex does include a bit of cheesiness; but, it's a darn fine album.

I love Lex Rex.  But I agree with richardh, the narration is a drag.

Lex Rex (despite the annoying narrative between tracks).I love the track 'Tales Of The Great Wars' especially.
TIS suffers from a seriously boring second disc although the first disc contains some very fine modern symp prog.Shadowlands and Chronomotree are both solid albums that are close to Lex Rex.I havn't heard anything else by them.

I've been through Chattanooga, TN a few times. Last place on earth you'd think a fine prog band would come from.

I got my autographed copy of the DVD too and it's one of my favorites. I like how they put the music first and omit the video gimmickry and special efx. I'd just as soon see the show than a bunch of video games.

Shadowlands is a superb album,no weak tracks at all.My favorite is the epic Behind the Great Beyond.

Lex Rex is awesome too,and the first disc of The Inconsolable Secret is good, but disc 2 contains too much filler that I could have done without.

I like most Chronometree and The Inconsolable Secret the most. I don't mind the vocals in CHronometree as much, but it could have been better, you are right.
The cd with the two long epics in "Secret" is really great, in my opinion.
